Welcome to my blog

My name is Belinda Cook and I’m the photographer behind Garland Photography.

My passion is capturing the magic of every day in photos, especially that magic that exists within a family. That instant bond between a mother and her child, the curiosity and interaction between new siblings, the joy and wonderment that a newborn brings into every new family. I am thankful every single day that my passion is my full-time job.

I have two young boys of my own who you will see throughout this blog. I am so privileged to be able to capture so many special moments of their childhood in beautiful pictures.

Sessions can be held in the comfort of your home, my home studio or an outdoor location, there are so many stunning locations in Sydney!

As well as travelling all over Sydney for photoshoots, I also travel to the Central Coast, Newcastle and the South Coast (Nowra / Kangaroo Valley areas) throughout the
year, so if you are in one of these areas, please contact me to find out the next available dates.

I am a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (Emerging).

Thanks for visiting!

Sneak Peek of Marco & Family…{Sydney Baby Photography}

As my regular blog followers will know, baby boys make me clucky…can you see why? I have just realised that baby Marco reminds me of the ‘My Child’ doll I had when I was little! He is like a little doll, isn’t he?! His big brother was just handsome and so cute re-enacting all the scenes from The Fast and The Furious (cut down version!) with his toy cars, he’s only just turned 3 but so clever, knowing all the cars by make & model. Such a beautiful family. Thanks so much Anita & Jason, it was great spending time with you all! x

Sneak Peek of Little Miss Sophie…{Sydney Baby Photography}

Just wanted to get a quick sneak peek up of the gorgeous 7 month old Sophie before I head to the Gold Coast for a conference next week. I just L.O.V.E the litte hooded poncho she has on in the first shot, isn’t it divine! Enjoy Lou, i’ll have your full gallery ready when I get back x

Sneak Peek of Little Miss Zoe…{Sydney Newborn Photography}

How I love a chubba bubba! Little Miss Zoe was born 4kg at 37 weeks. Now 5 weeks on she is a bundle of gorgeousness with that mop of brown hair and squishy, squishy lips *sigh*. I was so excited when I walked in and saw this amazing chair in the images below for 2 reasons. One, I LOVE to use cool, new, different props and two, I love to use something in the shoot that is special to the family and this chair belonged to little Zoe’s Great-Grandmother. I just love those shots!

Emma, it was so great to meet you and your beautiful little girl, enjoy the sneak peek and can’t wait to show you the rest of the images! x

Sneak Peek of Little Miss Sotira…{Sydney Newborn Photography}

This gorgeous baby girl is the neice & cousin of one of my recent clients. I always love to meet more of a client’s family, especially this one. They were just as lovely as their brother & sister-in-law, and it was such a pleasure to spend time in their home. Another beautiful litte girl with a beautiful name. Thank you so much Roza & Angelo for making me feel so welcome in your home, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. I’m finding it so hard to cull images from this session! x

Ethan & The Owl…{Sydney Child Photography}

It’s 9:23pm and at exactly this time 4 years ago the most important, defining moment of my life occured. It’s the moment I became a mother. Baby Ethan came into our lives and changed them forever.  It wasn’t what we expected. It was harder. It was better. He drives us crazy. He makes our heart sing. He set us on the rollercoaster ride that is parenthood and what an adventure it’s been. It seems like yesterday that I held him for the first time, but it feels like he’s been with us forever.  He is smart. He is funny. He is creative. He is caring and kind. He is brave.

But there is one thing that scares him. Only one. He talks of punching trolls and goblins. He has fire breathing dragons and T-Rex dinosaurs as friends. He even consoled me in the scary part of Toy Story 3 (which made most kids cry) by saying “It’s ok Mummy, it’s just a movie”.

This afternoon, on his birthday, I wanted to get some shots of him in his brand new tee pee while he was enjoying colouring and drawing (his favourite thing at the moment). But this ended abruptly when he heard an owl. The ONLY thing he is afraid of. It wasn’t an owl of course, but I have to admit the bird in question did sound like one, and I could not convince him otherwise. So no more serene shots, however I did think this made a cute series of images anyway :-)

Happy 4th Birthday my Gorgeous Boy. Love you forever xxx
