Welcome to my blog

My name is Belinda Cook and I’m the photographer behind Garland Photography.

My passion is capturing the magic of every day in photos, especially that magic that exists within a family. That instant bond between a mother and her child, the curiosity and interaction between new siblings, the joy and wonderment that a newborn brings into every new family.

I have two young boys of my own who you will see many times throughout this blog. I am so privileged to be able to capture so many special moments of their childhood in beautiful pictures, I would love to do that for you too.

Sessions can be held in the comfort of your home or an outdoor location, there are so many stunning locations in Sydney!

As well as travelling all over Sydney for photoshoots, I also travel to the Central Coast, Newcastle and the South Coast (Nowra / Kangaroo Valley areas) throughout the
year, so if you are in one of these areas, please contact me to find out the next available dates.

I am also available for commercial assignments, please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Thanks for visiting!

Sneak Peek of Mateja…{Sydney Newborn Photography}

I am a little behind in my blog sneak peeks so thank you Renee & Dusan for being so patient! This is gorgeous 3 week old Mateja who slept for most of the session. He fell asleep in his Mummy’s arms during the first few shots then was like putty in my hands for all his own portraits and slept soundly through a number of position and hat changes. Gosh he made my job easy. Renee, you are such a natural mother and I think it’s YOU that has the magic touch, I just carried on from your good work ;-) I hope you both enjoy this sneak peek and i’ll be in touch soon with the rest of your gallery xxx

Urban Princess…{Trash the Dress}

Here is the second location from our recent ‘Trash the Dress’ shoot, an old tram junkyard. I LOVE the juxtoposition of Alissa’s clean, pristine beauty against the rusted metals and rotting wood. This was such a fun shoot. Alissa was such an awesome model, boy was she great at climbing in those high-heeled boots! Very different to our woodland nymph theme, but perfect to showcase that ‘Trash the Dress’ shoots don’t have to be at the beach, we can get creative! If you would like to book a Trash the Dress shoot, email me at belinda@garlandphotography.com.au.

Sneak Peek of Lucas… {Sydney Baby Photography}

Oh my goodness isn’t this one of the CUTEST baby boys you have EVER seen? He was an absolute joy to photograph and one of my funnest shoots ever.

This was a surprise secret shoot for his Daddy’s birthday this Saturday, but his Mummy picked up the prints today and was too excited to wait until Saturday so gave them to him today! Apparently he “love love loves them” :-) All the better for me as I’ve been DYING to share this little guy with everyone. So it’s not really a “sneak peek” as such, but enjoy anyway :-)

P.S. I have been waiting to use those wooden ball thingys for 2 years now and finally found a relevant use for them, and isn’t it adorable? :-)

Sneak Peek of Alexander…{Sydney Newborn Photography}

Isn’t this family divine?! They have just moved into the most stunning home and I was so delighted to be invited to photograph their new little family there. Three week old Alexander was sweetly sleeping when I arrived, but it didn’t take long for him to wisen up to what I was doing there and then this baby would sleep no more. It took a while, but we still got some beautiful shots. It is obvious how much this little one is loved. Thanks again guys, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek xxx

Woodland Nimph…{Trash the Dress}

Trash the Dress sessions are a chance to get your wedding dress back on one more time and get all those shots that you were too afraid to get on your wedding day in case your dress got dirty or wet. They are so much fun and this one was no exception. Alissa is one of my most frequent clients (I recently did the beach shoot with her kids below) and we thought it would be great fun to give her wedding dress, only 2 1/2 years old, another run. We went to 2 locations for the shoot, this one is the first, a gorgeous creek a few minutes walk from my home studio. Alissa, you were amazing, I hope you had as much fun as I did. Here’s a selection of the shots, stay tuned for a sneak peek of the second location, coming soon!
